COLOR STUDY: THE HENSCHE APPROACH
with
CHRISTOPHER BRIZZARD
Gain greater control of color through learning the methods of Henry Hensche, whose lineage connects to the roots of American Impressionism through the teachings of Charles Hawthorne and William Merritt Chase. Part One of this course focuses on values and understanding color relationships in both warm and cool light. Students will gain greater control of color through understanding the core concepts of value, temperature, and saturation in a variety of light conditions. Follow Hensche’s approach by creating color studies of boxes and other simple objects as a precursor to painting more complex forms.
