Fundamentals of Figure and Portrait: Drawing and Painting

This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of portrait and figure drawing and painting, including developing an understanding of the structure and anatomy of the head and figure, using gesture to set up your drawing, and the importance of understanding light and shadow, Classes will be spent working on exercises together to deepen our understanding of these concepts and we will regularly be drawing and painting from the live model.

Chris Brizzard started his formal training in drawing and design with Michael Mentler at The Society of Figurative Arts (www.tsofa.com) in 2013. From 2014 to 2017, he studied at Studio Incamminati (www.studioincamminati.org) under instructors trained by Nelson Shanks. He now teaches at The Oklahoma Academy of Classical Art in Edmond, OK and Oklahoma Contemporary in Oklahoma City and is represented by 1515 Lincoln Gallery, also in Oklahoma City.
