A Time for Change- An open letter from Leslie Lienau, OACA Founder

Twelve years ago, I opened a small teaching studio in my garage. It began as The Conservatory for Classical Art. I started with just a handful of students. Shortly after opening, I moved the studio out of my garage and into the beautiful space where the school now resides. In that space, the school has grown and thrived.

Now, it is time for a change and a transition. After teaching for over 25 years I will be retiring to start a new career. In early July I'll be relocating to California to work as the Marketing Director for Natural Pigments, a company that produces high-quality art materials. Whereas I am excited about the new position and the move back to my native home, I will miss my students, friends, and family. Indeed, the change is bittersweet.

OACA has been purchased by Nicole Adkisson, a former student of mine and a current member of the OACA faculty. I have no doubt that the school will be in very good hands. Nicole is a talented artist and a gifted teacher. I believe the school will continue to grow under her leadership.

I am grateful to all the faculty, who contributed to OACA's growth with their excellent teaching abilities. I must give heartfelt thanks to Ella Moore. From the very beginning, Ella graced our school with her beauty, intelligence, and dedication to teaching our young artists. She created an inviting, warm, and pleasant environment for local artists to practice their craft in open studio sessions. Ella's contribution has been immense and for that, I am deeply grateful.

Finally, I am thankful for every student who has walked through the doors over the years. To have been trusted by so many has been the greatest privilege.

With sincere thanks,
Leslie
