3-Day Flesh Tones Workshop
All levels are welcome to this 3 Day Flesh Tones Workshop for Oil Painters with ARC Associate Living Master, Tina Garrett. Students will focus on understanding how to control the palette and value key to achieve realistic flesh tones from diverse photos Tina provides, for example: underwater, painted face and candle lit as well as multiple ethnicities). Tina started oil painting in 2012 and shares with her students the practical methods she uses in her award-winning portraiture to help artists make the best paintings they’ve ever made. Tina is a two-time ARC Salon Purchase Prize Winner, three-time Oil Painters of America Online Showcase awardee, an International Artist Magazine People & Figures Grand Prize winner and a proud Cecelia Beaux Forum Mentor for the Portrait Society of America. If your portraits look dead and your colors are a mess, you have to take this workshop!
In addition to various recognitions by the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, and National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society, Tina is a two-time Purchase Award winner in the 11th and 12th International ARC Salons. Twice exhibiting at the Museum of Modern Art Europe (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain, and the Salmagundi Club in New York City, Tina’s works, “City Blues” and “String of Pearls” are now part of the Art Renewal Center's renowned permanent collection.
In 2016, Tina earned a designation of ARC Associate Living Master from the Art Renewal Center and a Master Artist designation from the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society and a FASO BoldBrush Signature Artist. Tina has intently studied the Selective Start Method described in Alla Prima by Living Master Artist and Author Richard Schmid, studied in workshops and private lessons with Romel de la Torre, and workshops with Casey Baugh, Aaron Westerberg, Jeremy Lipking, Tim Deibler, Michelle Dunaway, Stanka Kordic, Dennis Perrin and Kathy Anderson. In the course of her serious pursuit of fine art mastery, Tina has created a growing family of private collectors and commissioned clients in the U.S. and the U.K. and the Netherlands and is invited to teach workshops across the U.S. at private studios and art centers including the Scottsdale Artists' School, Village Arts of Putney, The Art Students League of Denver, Bountiful Davis Art Center and the as well as internationally in Tuscany and Florence, Italy at The Florence Studio and The Art Farm in Johannesburg South Africa.
Tina published her first instructional oil painting video in January 2019 and held her first Solo Show, "Pieces of Me" at Bountiful Davis Art Center in Salt Lake City, Utah in March of 2019.
Tina is a proud Missouri State Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America helping Missouri artists fully benefit from their PSoA membership. Tina is also proud to be a 2018 & 2019 Cecilia Beaux Forum Mentoring Program Mentor.
