FULL - TIME ATELIER PROGRAM - COMING SOON!

Our new full-time atelier is a three-year program of academic drawing and painting in the classical tradition. It is designed for the student who has a desire for serious, consistent and focused training in drawing and painting. Our curriculum is based on traditional, time-tested practices, dating back to the Italian renaissance and the French academic painters of the late nineteenth century. ​
FIRST YEAR
Students will begin with the foundations drawing curriculum.
​A systematic approach is used to teach:
  • Principles and logic of light, shade and how to render form
  • Theory of linear perspective
  • Measuring proportions
  • Scale and composition​
Subjects:
  • Sight-size Charles Bargue Drawing Course
  • Sight-size cast studies
  • Sight-size drapery studies
  • Master copies (Leonardo Da Vinci and Peter Paul Rubens, for example)

  • Graphite

  • Conte Crayon
  • Metalpoint​
SECOND YEAR
​During the second year, students will begin to draw from the live model, study color theory, paint handling and painting best practices. 
First & Second Trimester:
  • Drawing the portrait
  • Drawing the figure

THIRD YEAR
Students will continue the study of oil painting, completing studies including:
First Trimester:
  • Sight-size cast painting - value
  • Sight-size drapery painting - value and full color
  • Portrait value studies
  • Figure value studies​
Third Trimester:
  • Color science
  • Paint handling & best practices
  • Value studies
  • Color studies
Medium:
  • Oil on linen
Second & Third Trimester:
Students will complete final projects from the following subjects:
  • Full color portrait painting
  • Full color figure painting
  • Still life painting
PAYMENT POLICIES - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
•• New students must pay a non-refundable $25 registration fee. Currently enrolled students are not required to pay a registration fee. If a student is absent for 3 or more months, a new registration fee of $25 is required to enroll in a class or the atelier program.
•• There are no refunds if the student cannot attend the designated hours each month. Students should plan ahead for holidays, travel and studio closing to get their hours in each month. Unused hours may not be rolled over to the next month. This policy applies to all session options.
•• Please submit your registration using the buttons provided for each session or class option. You may pay for the course with credit or debit online or in studio, or you may pay via check or cash. Tuition is due on the 1st day of each month (a $35 late fee applies to payments made on or after the 5th day of each month).
