This 4-day summer art camp offers young artists a structured introduction to Academic Art, modeled after the traditional training methods used by the Masters. Students will begin with foundational exercises focused on observational drawing, then progress to Master Copies, developing both technical skill and visual understanding. Throughout the camp, instruction will emphasize core principles that support strong artistic development, including:
Light
Value
Drawing to scale
Study of Master works
By engaging with these time-tested practices, students will gain insight into the processes historically used to create enduring works of art, while building confidence and precision in their own artistic abilities.

Hi, I’m Jaime Spencer! I’m an art teacher with a passion for helping young artists grow in both skill and confidence. I currently teach art to students from pre-k to third grade at The Academy of Classical Christian Studies, where I love introducing children to the joy of creating and observing the world around them.
With 8 years of teaching experience, I’ve had the privilege of guiding students through the early stages of artistic development. I am also continuing my own training as a student at the Oklahoma Academy of Classical Art, where I study traditional techniques rooted in Academic Art.
I believe that every child can learn to draw well with the right tools and encouragement, and I’m passionate about sharing the timeless methods that have helped artists learn for generations.
