FORM PAINTING: THE FIGURE
In this 4-week class, we will begin with the first stage of form painting, the block-in, and then move into the second stage, using values to develop the forms in light. Starting from a gesture and painting directly from life, we will practice building figures in a variety of poses. All poses will be strongly lit with a clear light side and shadow side. Poses will range from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Students will learn to simplify what they see into larger masses that convey the overall gesture, forms and sense of light seen in the model.
Intermediate to Advanced. Class size limited to 10 artists.
