THE PORTRAIT - From Drawing to Painting
Part I - Drawing
Leslie Lienau Adult/Teen Beginning/Advanced Adult/Teen $255 Monday evening starting January 7 - February 11, 2019 6 - 9 p.m. In this two-part course, students will work from the live model to make a fully rendered portrait in graphite. The primary focus of the first 6 weeks will be to obtain a good likeness by applying classical techniques of blocking in, measuring proportions, drawing contours, massing and finally, creating form through modeling. This course is the first part of two. In the second part of the course, students will work from the same model and pose to make a finished oil painting of the drawing created in the first phase. Model fees are included in the tuition. |
Part II - Painting
Leslie Lienau Adult/Teen Beginning/Advanced Adult/Teen $255 Monday evening, February 18 - March 25 Pre-requisite: The Portrait - From Drawing to Painting Part I The second part of this course will be dedicated to painting the portrait by working with the same model and pose as was used in the first part of the course. Students will begin with transferring the drawing to a painting surface, followed by value and color poster studies, and finally working in the indirect method, also referred to as "form painting". Students will learn to mix a "closed" palette of the colors before them and will begin with a full-color underpainting followed by opaque layers. Model fees are included in the tuition. |
